  1. Free range is the way forward. Buying the farm in the first place is the tricky bit.
  2. Don't pull too hard though, very easy to tear the polythene. If it's sticking somewhere find out what's causing the issue before tugging it over. You almost need one person just watching for snags while the others pull it over. The more pairs of hands you have the better really, as long as they can all do as their told.
  3. I've heard of min-till but that's men-till. Do they rake and bake the straw over the drilled crop then?
  4. Are you sure you have the correct fittings? My uniforest grab has metric fittings, which are an almost fit for 3/8 but wouldn't work for very long.
  5. Ploughing? What's that then? Round here there's a tractor following the combine round the field drilling straight into the stubble.
  6. You can't tow any trailer with anything bigger than a 7.5 tonner with your license. If you want to tow with a ten or 12 tonner you need c+e
  7. Either c1+e, or c+e. Pretty pointless doing it in a 7.5 tonner though, might as well go straight to full artic as it's the same test.
  8. Yes c1+e only cover you for a 7.5 tonne towing vehicle with up to 4.5 tonne trailer making 12 tonnes total gtw
  9. I always fancied getting an urban artic, stretching it up And putting a crane on the back and putting a drawbar trailer behind. 24 tonne gross and only £165 tax a year....
  10. You can plate it at whatever you want, 9 tonnes, 9.5 tonnes, anything between the unladen weight and the maximum design weight. Then if you ever get C+E you could always replate it at full whack. Mines an Iveco, 18 tonner.
  11. 10/12 tonners are the same physical size as a 7.5 tonner. 7.5 tonners only exist due to an oddity of British driver licensing, they are mostly downplated 10 tonners. Even if you can afford brand new I would still buy used, proper trucks just go on and on, mine is 15 years old and done 300k, it costs virtually nothing to run considering the work it does.
  12. What's your budget? Something like this is what I would go for, bit of paint and it will look really tidy. 2003 IVECO CARGO 100E18 TIPPER DROPSIDES, SWING LIFT, COMPRESSOR, TOW BAR WITH ELECTRICS **13 TON GROSS** in Rotherham | Auto Trader Trucks
  13. 10 or 12 tonne tipper, nail some greedy boards on and get it straight to work. 7.5 tonner you will overload if you put a decent size chip bin on it.
  14. I think practise is important, of the procedure more than the climbing part. I remember at college the instructor demonstrating a pole rescue, he spiked up to the victim and then realised he'd left a vital bit of kit on the deck. Embarrassing but in a real life scenario dangerous. When you've rehearsed something regularly, if or when you have to do it for real it's second nature rather than being something you have to spend ten minutes thinking about before you start, or going into a panic because your stressed and under pressure. The isa comp is a great way of replicating some of that pressure....
  15. Yes that Rhody.
  16. They used to, I asked recently and they said they don't do special builds any more because of whole vehicle type approval. You could have one built and get it inspected as a one off, as CK Trading do. They aren't really similar to the Aussie trailers, they're made in Ally rather than steel.
  17. Hate to think what the shipping from Australia would cost.
  18. Depends what trailer you have, you can get mini digger trailers with a payload of about 2.8 tonnes.
  19. 137cc. The contra lightning came in two sizes, which evolved into the 070 (106cc) and 090(137cc). There are some exceptions, the 090G is 106cc
  20. The S model is 137cc I think. I'm sure Eddy or someone will be along with all the facts at their fingertips soon!
  21. Neither, it's a Contra Lightning, the precursor to both 070 and 090.
  22. Good enough for me cheers.
  23. Just means the driver won't bother indicating.
  24. A lot of London lorries also have an audible warning when turning left now.
  25. Anyone know what it is?
