  1. Yes, they will go on sideways no problem. Sure we can sort something out. There will be plenty of pics of the project, dont worry! I forgot to mention the hydraulic winch, gotta have me one of them too, and some big tool lockers! Going to have to save my pennies up!
  2. Its a 9.5 t/m crane, the bed will be shortened down so it can get into driveways, not quite sure on the finished length yet but it will be shorter than 20 feet. It would still load them onto a 16 foot ifor williams flatbed trailer though. Timber grapple is on the shopping list, along with bigass led lightba, reversing camera, and loudest air horn known to mankind.
  3. Hey ali

nice to see you over here, good to have some more tcc folk around!

  4. Sorry Neils, this forum is populated by phallus obsessed homophobes!
  5. £64 plus vat per tonne in manchester
  6. Thats the handle of the sword. Not anything else, especially not anything related to the horse carving
  7. any rope you like. the bottom biner should be an oval, such as the petzl ok, the top one i use a dmm sentinel, because its really small, and the hitch is less likely to get stuck under it.
  8. If it was lighter and cooler than a t-shirt, of course i would wear it. All chainsaw ppe is forestry led, hence front leg protection. Anyone who had done any conifer felling, snedding, and crosscutting will know how easy it is to slip and stick the saw in your knee. For climbing, all the saw protection is in the work positioning. Just saying, hmm, climbing looks more dangerous therefore you should wear more ppe is not the answer. You shouldnt be cutting anywhere near the front or back of your legs in the tree, let alone your torso or arms.

  10. Nice saw, perfect for stumping!
  11. If the snotty neighbour complains, he may well find his car parked on his garage roof!

    Tipi's

    These are worth a look
  13. All crane trucks gravitate towards his yard for some reason. I was trying to get it back to Manchester, but it wanted to go the other way down the m56!
  14. I can highly recommend a splicing workshop with Nod, even if you do crack that crossover with your new fids. It would add to your ability and knowledge, and if you understand the basics before doing the workshop, then so much the better.
  15. My take on 16 strand is to only climb on double braid, thereby eliminating the problem. Piano wire should make it easier, Nod gets piano wire fids made up for him, and they are excellent.
  16. I must have been a very good boy this year, and I dont know how he got it down the chimney...

The best way to get into it is to turn up and have a go. Read through the rules and post up any questions here, when you get to a comp and see it all in action its a lot less complicated than it seems!

The rules are available here The score sheets are worth a look to see how its all scored, particularly the work climb and aerial rescue events.
  20. Yup, the crossover is the hardest bit, especially with used rope. I have only done two or three, so I cant offer much in the way of help, only sympathy!
  21. As long as you havent made the same mistake! That could be embarrasing!
  22. Some jobs are done fast because they are underpriced. Other jobs are paid very well because they have to be done fast, and to exacting requirements.
  23. Congratulations! I got engaged on christmas day, a few years ago, its a great feeling!
  24. Congratulations to both of you from myself and my missus. He had to hang on until just past midnight, i hope he was delivered by Santa!
  25. Hmm,I have a Dows, I also have a 1988 Fonseca, but I'm saving that for a special occasion!
