Decent harness makes, Komet, Petzl, Edelrid, Austria. Actually you cant really go wrong, all the harnesses on the market at the moment are ok, but make sure you try one on first. If its being sold by a reputable dealer and it feels comfy when you sit in it, it will do the job. Might be worth a trip up to FR Jones and Son. A 45 metre rope will do, later on you might want a shorter one, or you might accidentally end up with two shorter ones from your 45! A longer rope will do for bigger trees, but a shorter rope isnt much good for big ones.

is there that much difference between the ms341 and 260?

I use a 4.8 mm file on the 441, and I have sharpened 260s with the same file, and they seem to cut just fine as long as you always use the same size file. -
I'd imagine it was top roped, and then lifted off by winching up with the hobbs, then lowered.

You need spikes for dismantles, (ie if the tree is being removed completely) but they should never be used on pruning. Harness is very much a personal thing, if you can try before you but so much the better. Whereabouts are you?

I have always steered well clear of getting either, they are probably just as bad as each other. One you'll spend all weekend lying underneath covered in gunk, and the other i can only imagine.......

Nothing wrong with that sanny, my only comments if I was being very nit-picky would be a bit too much off that big limb on the right, and maybe a bit too much on the lift. I am aware that you have to work to the spec, ie give the client (and the boss), what they want. The finer points of thins/reductions/lifts come with time and confidence to do what you think is best and tell the boss/client so!

Cheers guys, I'll see if can find the piccies from when we moved in. Over the last 2 and a half years I'v knocked the kitchen and dining room together, taken out the archway into the dining room, altered the staircase, taken the back door out, put in french windows, replaced the front door, fitted central heating, rewired, replumbed, moved the bathroom door, put a new bathroom floor in including new floor joists, complete new bathroom, complete new kitchen, new windows all round, plastered the whole house, reroofed the garage, fitted new garage doors, had new carpets put down, completely decorated, and fitted a big-ass flatscreen! And now I'm going to move, and start all over again! This makes land rover enthusiasts look quite sane!

Market is slow, hoping it will pick up this month, apparently there are some new mortgages coming online in the next few weeks. Yup, its really mine! You didnt think I lived in a hovel did you?! I will be on the move as soon as this gets sold, got the first viewing on Saturday, so I'll keep you posted.
