Yup, its big alright. 420 mm blade. The main reason I like it is for reaching out and hooking lowering ropes into me. Also it does cut pretty fast.

Teufelberger is very slightly different to the standard tachyon, but if there is a significant price difference then I dont think its worth bothering with.

I knew I should have bought 2, and had them crossed over my back! Mind you, I'd probably amputate an ear or something! Its going on the harness. Cant get on with strapping it to my leg, its just too big!

Got fed up with the standard silky sugoi scabbard, broken 2 in exactly the same place, so I'v invested in this funky Weaver alternative. I'll let you know how I get on with it.

If you remain with the SWL, then you maintain a high number of cycles to failure. Exceeding the SWL is like playing russian roulette with your rigging gear, you have no idea when or if it will fail. Therefore the size of the rigging work is irrelevant, as long as the equipment and techniques used ensure that you remain within the SWL at all times.

The monsters you are referrring to are Californian Redwood. (Sequoia sempervirens) Wellingtonia is Sequoiadendron giganteum, a different beast entirely. Does make excellent carvings though.

660 is a good saw, you do have to keep the chainbrake really clean or it will become difficult to operate. It does run a 30" very nicely. Never used a 390.
