  1. Born this morning at 10.50am, 6lb 1 oz.
  2. Yup, its big alright. 420 mm blade. The main reason I like it is for reaching out and hooking lowering ropes into me. Also it does cut pretty fast.
  3. Teufelberger is very slightly different to the standard tachyon, but if there is a significant price difference then I dont think its worth bothering with.
  4. I don't know Uncle Dean.
  5. Congratulations, your not really 40 are you?!
  6. I figured for a fiver you cant really go wrong.
  7. I may well commission one. Possibly mahogony rather than walnut though.
  8. I knew I should have bought 2, and had them crossed over my back! Mind you, I'd probably amputate an ear or something! Its going on the harness. Cant get on with strapping it to my leg, its just too big!
  9. Stihl MS260
  10. Got fed up with the standard silky sugoi scabbard, broken 2 in exactly the same place, so I'v invested in this funky Weaver alternative. I'll let you know how I get on with it.
  11. Rather unfortunate company name dontcha think?
  12. That is one sulky looking spaniel! "Dad, this is so embarrassing!"
  13. Managed without the Hobbs alright then?
  14. Nice one Josh, looks like your having a ball out there!
  15. No Rohypnol?
  16. If you remain with the SWL, then you maintain a high number of cycles to failure. Exceeding the SWL is like playing russian roulette with your rigging gear, you have no idea when or if it will fail. Therefore the size of the rigging work is irrelevant, as long as the equipment and techniques used ensure that you remain within the SWL at all times.
  17. The monsters you are referrring to are Californian Redwood. (Sequoia sempervirens) Wellingtonia is Sequoiadendron giganteum, a different beast entirely. Does make excellent carvings though.
  18. 660 is a good saw, you do have to keep the chainbrake really clean or it will become difficult to operate. It does run a 30" very nicely. Never used a 390.
  19. I think it was yes. You and me were in the same group, and you got stuck in a rope tangle getting out of the work climb!
  20. Dont think so, although I cant really remember tbh. So, recipe for success, get overnight ferry on stormest day of the year, arrive an hour late on 2 hours sleep after a 10 hour journey! Perhaps if I threw a hangover into the mix I might get a 12th place!
  21. I strongly resent that accusation, I have never placed in the top 50%
  22. I retired last year. Might be time for a comeback this season though.
  23. Bashing a lump out of a turkey oak today.
  24. Plus billets dont tend to get stolen like oven ready logs.
