  1. Hmmm the site doesn't say, unless you commit to buy I suppose strange. I cant remember what I paid for mine now, but it's lasted very well and I've put a fair bit through it now. But there is nothing to go wrong with it and it's very robust.
  2. Log-Loc - Overview I've had one of these for years. can cut anything from pole length to a short log
  3. Hi Rob, thanks for taking the time, until Dec 1st I had no idea about it either, so no shame there! I'm trawling the net for info on this, Im in limbo at the mo, in between the stage of having the initial op and the stoma, and the option of going for the reversal later this year. The downside of reversal is problems with infection in the pouch formed internally, I have so far spoken to 3 who have undergone reversal who have had complications, including one with a life threatening infection resulting directly from reversal. The internal pouches will have a very low capacity, requiring emptying more often than the bags I'm currently using. It is early days, I still have a lot to find out, and for every bad story I'm sure there wil be a dozen positives.
  4. Pen fold, thanks, I've spoken to my stoma nurse, but they don't quite comprehend the real world of tree work. Tree surgeon Essex, it certainly isn't tree work that caused the issue, however they don't really seem to know what does cause it, although they link it to the Western diet. Thanks for the feedback so far, what I really hope is that someone else out there has been through the same or similar so they can let me know how they dealt it, just so I have an idea.
  5. I watched a couple of these when they had to cross the Oz outback, drivers are not tv personalities, but normal people doing a job. How you make them more interesting I don't know, how you make driving across countless miles interesting I don't know. Typical dross that you come to expect to be on tv these days.
  6. Cheers Geoff, my problem is that I've always been a flat out, full on, busy kind of person, I can't stand the thought of being held back by this. I know my strength is down, for now, but that's something I can sort in time, after all I have nothing else to do except walk and cycle right now. I just need to hear that I can still do the job from someone who's been there, done that
  7. As one or two know, I recently underwent major surgery to remove my colon. This means I now have to wear a bag over a stoma full time. What I want to know is whether anyone else out there has had a similar experience, and how they cope with everyday tree work. Getting back to my job is all I want, I don't want to stack shelves anywhere, I want to carry on this job. I have quite a while left before I'm work fit again, at least a couple of months if not longer. But if you have any experience of this, please let me know. If you don't want the whole world to know, pm me instead. Thanks.
  8. I was referring to the first part of your statement
  9. No worries, have 090 will travel David .
  10. Why unprofessional? Anglian water have just announced a 5.4% increase in line with novembers rate of inflation. Business is business, they've increased their rate, why should the OP not increase his. At the rate this country is going, well all be working for nowt.
  11. I agree with some of the earlier posts, it ws innovations like this that we used to be renowned for, now we're breeding a society of kids that just play games stations.
  12. Well chuffed with my score of one, that's only coz I didn't read the first question right and guessed the answer. Proper test that, sorts the poofy lot from the real tree men
  13. I Don't think anyone would read them if we did, and if they did read it they'd only read what they choose to and twist the facts to suit themselves. As you say, this has come up countless times, yet misinformation still comes out in each and every thread. On this case, as others, I would call REC and let them shutdown, trim back, make safe or carry out works under their supervision, it's their call not mine. They have to supply this service as part of their remit under H&S procedures, and it's free, why take unnecessary risks? Where it may be ok to winch/pull a tree back away from the lines, I have seen this go horrendously wrong, even when all the normal safety parameters were covered, it doesn't matter what the rule book says sometimes, Murphys law can and will come into play.
  14. Nice one, put a smile on my face that did
  15. Weight difference between Honda hedge trimmer and any regular 2t trimmer is negligible, think of the gains, quieter running, less emissions, less vibes, less tired, and the Honda is a proper 4t, not a 4mix. My only concern would be how the 4t would develop the snappy power we,re accustomed to with typical 2t models.
  16. Please contact Steve Bullman re advertising on Arbtalk, as per forum rules, thank you (advertising comes under Rule 9 of the forum rules)
  17. I understand that they are undergoing tests, don't forget a 4t develops power in a different manner to 2t. They already do 4t hedge trimmers as well as strummers, a lot quieter and clean burning in comparison to regular hedge trimmers.
  18. Got no chance of hearing a contact 600 metres away in this country now with the influx of high power Russian "taxi" companies whacking out massive power on their burners. CB is dead in this country, better off using PMR radios, with no interference from abroad.
  19. Thanks for using the report option in this case, a highly emotive topic. Please refrain from copy/pasting the quote of the offensive material further on in the thread, takes us far longer to clean up the thread. Thanks.
  20. Brilliant piece of footage, makes you appreciate how easy we have It these days
  21. Just because many of us have been around the block a few times, and seen it all before, should not make a topic boring, newer members need to ask, others need refreshing, and it's surprising how many still don't really know the facts, despite it being in trade magazines, H&S papers and even on here. If "facts" posted here are incorrect, help fellow members by posting the real facts, backed up with links to H&S, there is no need for anything to end up in an argument, but it is a discussion forum for um mm discussion, so discuss away
  22. While in hospital over Xmas I was staggered by the flights the Air Ambulance made, daily, I never dreamt they did so much. One day it came and went 3times, another day the AA landed, took off and then the Army Air Corps landed a heli on the pad with another heli hovering waiting to come in. They do a top job. Also much credit to your ground guys for an excellent response to a potentially nasty situation, hope you gave them a drink after
  23. I think most if not all of us have been there at some point in our lives take it easy
  24. On the whole, I think we Mods give a pretty free rein to the membership, as I said we are normal working arbs in our spare time, we see the same things, feel the same cold, experience the Same frustrations as everyone else trying to do the job. We understand a bad day, then we come home, make a coffee and trawl through countless posts and threads for our "enjoyment" then someone, or sometimes several someone's will go and spoil the vibe and break a few easy to follow rules, then they don't like it cos we pull them up for it, in as fair a way as we can. In fact we probably spend more time trying not to penalise someone, arguing their case between ourselves, than is good for us. But hey, that's our choice and on the whole it's an enjoyable task and given the size of the membership we have very few issues to deal with, so thanks to all of you who make our lives easier.
  25. You are in fact right, there is a certain type of person that steal, that's a criminal type, thieving lowmlife scum who profit from others hard work. thieves wear a ll sorts of clothes, drive all sorts of cars, operate in all types of business and come from every level of society. There is no definitive "look" to a thief, make no mistake.
