  1. Didn't they also blame the hedgehog, or is that an old wives tale?
  2. I use an old graft, done thousands of trees with it, it'll never break
  3. My understanding of the White bird rule is that they are put in to test the attention of the guns, rather than blasting away randomly at everything that gets up off the ground, they should ensure it's a legal and legit target.
  4. Haha, you haven't seen Lees little dog have you?
  5. I'm sure some time ago I shot a vid, or posted some pics of Mr Bullman doing a beech with a significant lean and about 90' tall, a perfect example of skinning up on the top side of the lean. Took him about 15mins from start to us felling the butt if I recall. I'll see if I can find a link to it or the pics
  6. I agree with Lee, place for dogs in at home in kennels, not running loose around the clients property. A mate of mine takes his dog on site most days, and IMO it's an accident waiting to happen, it distracts others while they are doing their job, it disappears for a dump in the clients gardens, no way should hey be allowed on site. Can you imagine a building site allowing pets to roam about? Ridiculous.
  7. Lovely ol job, I spent ages looking around for that, couldn't find a supplier anywhere! Cheers
  8. Better than a couple of weeks ago, walking further every day to build up legs again, start gentle weights and cycling next week, hopefully stomach muscles will gently toughen up again as I do more. At least the surgeon had the decency to do keyhole surgery rather than unzipping me top to bottom, which he could have done.
  9. Hmmm better idea
  10. Cracking idea, god knows how I managed before Arbtalk
  11. Does anyone sell these? I see advertised all the other bits and bobs associated with them but never see a cork/bung?
  12. Cheers everyone, still thinking, and planning, and trying to get some level of fitness back....gently:thumbup:
  13. Probably "sheepsheds" for planning purposes, or the sheep need to be kept warm and like Emmerdale in the evenings:biggrin:
  14. My lads used to chop kindling and flog it locally, not through shops but direct to the public. the money was all theirs, an incentive to them at the time to appreciate money!
  15. It's not just the new lad who left the saw in the ways fault, everyone on site should be vigilant, especially with a new guy. Mistakes happen, luckily it was only a saw and not the newbies head. Lesson learnt, move on.
  16. I don't understand the system, but I thought if you were still in full time education it was free? Of course, its usually down to the student to supply their own ppe. I do think the training colleges could do more to guide students through this minefield
  17. Ah bless, another Arbtalk bromance blossoms
  18. I love sweets
  19. Too right, proper British heroes, of the old school
  20. I'm guessing you are looking to employ tree surgeons? A few more details may be useful? Like your location for example?
  21. IME the RSPCA are pretty powerless most of the time, I know of three instances where they were called out following multiple complaints about the way some horses were kept, they just looked and said they had access to water so that's all that matters. Knee deep in mud, split hooves and so on don't mean jack to them.
  22. If anyone wants to know an idea of prices for this conversion, contact Chipper-tech direct. this isn't my project, but a mates, and what he has spent is his business as far as I'm concerned. I just felt that there was some interest in similar projects on here last year and you'd like to see it. Daniel (chipper-tech) is getting back to me tomorrow with more details, as this is another service he would like to offer pick-up owners, as well as his chipper business and Arb supply in mid-Suffolk. Chipper tech number is 01449 616665 and is listed in Arbtalks Trade Directory.
  23. I became the worst kind of smoker, the smoker who smoked too much, at work and at home, had to have a smoke on the go all the time. I now have no desire to smoke whatsoever, I am repulsed by the smell, I never realised how selfish I was to smoke around non smokers who had no enjoyment of it. I never realised how much I smelt to others of the stale tobacco on my breath, in my clothes, from my pores. I now know all this, and since I have been ill for the last 3 months, I have come to appreciate my health a lot more, believe me the fear of pulmonary embolisms, kidney failure and various other issues are enough to make one take more care, especially when it happens to you. But I guess you'll be like the old me, and not give a damn about any of that, coz it always happens to someone else, who is old and infirm, and carry on smoking away and enjoying it
  24. How attractive do you want a tipper to be, it is designed to tip, that's what tippers do. Functionality is the key here, a reliable vehicle base, and well made panels from a company that is known for strong trailers, combined to make a sturdy truck for log deliveries, off road work in the woods and so on.
  25. Turn your putter on it's side, I'm on t'iPad now!! Dont actually know how they did that anyway, right way on camera, right way on screen, yet they rotated when I loaded em up!
