  5. Craned this trunk out earlier in the week. A fell at ground level had previously been attempted unsuccessfully. The residents near the tree had warned the guys there was a metal tree guard within...keeping in mind these residents were in their 90's and the tree must have engulfed the guard many many years ago, its quite something they really remembered that! Anyway, they were right as you can see from the pics, thankfully I wasn't involved in that part of the job. A crane was ultimately bought in to remove the trunk at approx 2m height and transport to another site for the timber to be put to use for various things. I guessed the weight of the lift at 6t but it actually came in at 10t...I was miles out The remaining butt is apparently going to be carved into an elephant, we shall see
  6. I start the 880 with the chainbreak on and thats about it. Your manual is correct though, and a quick blip on the throttle immediately isn't going to cause too much damage to the chain break.
  7. must try this one day, keep meaning to. Well executed anyway, regardless if it was the right or wrong cut for the scenario
  8. Always a little something to be learned from your videos Reg, thanks for posting

  18. Working in an area today where pretty much every tree as far as the eye can see has been topped..all mature Oaks, chestnuts etc..someone make a lot of money there about 20 odd years ago thats for sure. My job was re-topping them to previous points or just aboce, look hideous but not much else you can do with some of them
  19. Not sure if they don't like my smell, but I don't think I have ever been bitten by a horse fly which seems pretty odd in this job.
  20. I had a shelander, wouldn't have another! No experience with the Terrano, but nothing but good experience with Nissan in general and their after service.
