  1. Have a gander at this thread. Not specific to studying as such but still some good advice within https://arbtalk.co.uk/forums/topic/113508-how-do-you-keep-yourself-motivated/?tab=comments#comment-1676832
  2. I forget exactly. I think it was the housing rather than the clip. a 460 falling out of a tree could have been pretty nasty too, thankfully I noticed it was hanging on for dear life prior to climbing with it.
  3. I had one fail once with a 461. Wouldn’t risk it again
  4. Got that for my lad's birthday at the start of Dec. Only another 150 stages to go now! Have fun. It won’t no walk in the park!
  5. Starting wage between £18-23k dependant on experience = starting wage £18k to £18.5k tops
  6. Bah humbug! i have 11 to cook for tomorrow, Christmas will start for me around 4pm when that’s all done, bring on the wine and cheese board! happy Christmas everyone
  7. was playing it sensible this year and was more or less done, then my sons basketball net turned up and I realised I couldn’t mount it on the garage because of the eaves. Quick trip to a local fabricator for a custom bracket to be made up added another £50 on top of the initial cost. Probably could have got a cheaper option, just not on the Friday before Christmas
  8. Its a bit ironic that this was posted about an hour before you misread what I wrote ?
  9. Absolutely. Might be worth looking at going limited if you have stuff to move into the business. There could potentially be a tax free payout. I did similar when I went limited, although I was a sole trader. How it differs between a sole trader and employee I don't know. Get a good accountant on the case.
  10. Timberwolf, Europe’s leading manufacturer of commercial wood chippers, is launching a campaign to help the arboriculture industry understand the key information surrounding the latest round of emissions legislation. As part of the Government’s commitment to reduce engine emissions, non-road mobile machinery, including wood chippers, will be affected in the latest round of changes known as ‘Stage V’. The ‘All the Facts, #NoOmissions’ campaign, launched this week, setting out facts and information about ‘Stage V’, which takes effect in January 2019. Timberwolf, which has more than 30 years of industry experience, is taking the lead in providing clarity over the legislation, following speculation and misinformation surrounding the new rules. Over 20,000 people work in the arboriculture industry across Britain, contributing over £700 million to the UK economy* – and Stage V is set to have an impact on the engine technology of essential machinery used every day. Pre-Stage V diesel engines used in machines above 25hp, such as wood chippers, mowers and stump grinders, will no longer be produced after this year, so when manufacturers have used their stocks of these engines, new diesel machines will be fitted with Stage V-compliant engines that produce less emissions. The ‘All the Facts, #NoOmissions’ campaign is running across Timberwolf’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels, and includes striking graphics to make the facts around the legislation clear and accessible to everyone. Timberwolf Product Marketing Manager Antony Alexander said: “Our ‘All the Facts, #NoOmissions’ campaign is about giving the facts about the new legislation, as lots of people are being told that diesel machines can no longer be used, which is totally wrong. Current diesel wood chippers can be used and traded after the implementation of Stage V in same way they can be today. “This isn’t the end of diesel, far from it – it’s the start of a new wave of innovation in our industry. We’ve invested in a large stock of pre-Stage V engines so that we can produce our market leading wood chippers for some time to come, but we’re excited to be leading the way in designing Stage V compliant machines with unrivalled performance.” For more information on Timberwolf’s campaign, go to www.timberwolf-uk.com or follow @MyTimberwolf on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. 12. Well thats the ideal scenario, to work on a freelance basis filling in your empty days with other companies. Build up your own work on the side.
  13. Are you self employed at the moment?
  14. Andy, I already took the time above to explain my reasons. I haven't the time to waste going over what I have already said.
  15. No, the language isn't acceptable, Connor openly accepted he was partly responsible though and thats something i'm pretty sure the other party would never do Yep as Bill says Nor do I care for banning, which is why in nearly 12 years theres only been about 20 people banned from a site which has over 30,000 users. That doesn't imply overuse of the banning option in my eyes. I didn't mention forum rules anywhere. Swearing aside, I won't put up with anyone suggesting another use should stay out of conversations because they're not a 'regular', especially when the person in question is responsible for putting many off posting. Personal dislike?? I don't need to like everyone of the members, it doesn't mean I ban them for it. As for banning completely, some of the best members on here were at one point a pain in the backside, some were even banned for a short time, learned what was considered acceptable, and came back with a better attitude and become outstanding and respected members. Sure I could completely ban Vesp, or he can come back and adhere to what is considered socially acceptable. Or he can just go join another forum(I seem to recall him saying himself he had already been banned from multiple in the past)
  16. Had this happen several times, never got myself into any trouble though. Always pays when rigging to check and double check everything prior to cutting. Another one to watch is the line getting snagged on your sawpod mounted Silky handle.
  17. You can take an early festive break for that
  18. Nope never. However I rarely rig too big. That rope is pretty damm strong though, it would need to be a combination of a few different things for it to fail
  19. I hope they don’t ban me from climbing
  20. Well they obviously chipped up to the maximum capacity that the chipper would take otherwise you would have had more logs. This really should have been agreed at the quoting stage. Not much that can be done now unfortunately.
  21. Type a’s only. Wouldn’t even think about wearing c’s, particularly in the summer
