  1. Trade charity Perennial has been helping people across the arb industry when they are facing tough times for many years and has recently extended its services to cover everyone working in forestry. Perennial offers a lifeline to those in need, delivering frontline financial and practical support and advice to people facing crisis as a result of difficulties such as illness, injury, poverty and debt. Perennial’s delivers its support through its nationwide team of highly trained caseworkers and debt advisers, who visit people in their own homes to get to the root of the problem. No membership is required to access Perennial’s help and all support is completely free and confidential. Julia Hayne, Director of Services at Perennial comments: “We understand that working in arboriculture and forestry can be physical, seasonal, not highly paid and at risk from the effects of the weather. In today’s challenging economic times, even those with steady work can struggle and the self-employed can be particularly vulnerable. Often people have no cushion to fall back on should something unexpected happen. That means that an accident or illness can devastate a family’s livelihood. Perennial is there for anyone facing uncertain times – please don’t be afraid to get in touch if you or someone you know needs help.” Help is available both to those who are in work and retired, as well as their dependent family members, and continues for as long as it is needed, even if that means a lifetime. A large part of this involves helping people access additional financial support in emergency situations. This is sometimes offered directly as a grant, sometimes through other charitable funds or often via the complicated benefits and welfare system. Last year Perennial helped people access nearly £1.9 million in direct financial help. Rebuilding life after tragedy Perennial is there as a safety net when unexpected tragedy strikes. Marek was working as a tree surgeon and conservation manager at a golf course, when he fell from a tree and hit his head. He had a young family, with a baby on the way but his life was instantly shattered. His devastating fall resulted in severe brain injury and a medically induced coma. Marek and his partner Ann Marie were introduced to Perennial within a week of the accident. Perennial was able to help them overcome the many challenges that a life changing injury presents. They gave with financial arrangements and navigating the benefits system, as well as being there for emotional support and they continue to support the family for the long haul. Ann Marie said: “They were like cuddly arms, giving a big hug and taking away all the pressure of everything else I have to deal with to survive.. If it wasn’t for Perennial, I just don’t know how I could have dealt with it all.” Watch the video of Marek and Ann Marie here: www.perennial.org.uk/marek
  2. That sounds about right to me. Mount a tool box on and you can probably drop that to around 500kg

  4. @Rob D is probably the best man to speak to
  5. Yep he's about due for a groom Heres his tinder pic
  6. This is the one I have and I thoroughly recommend it. Been meaning to write a review on it but time is somewhat of an issue http://www.upcountry4x4.co.uk/nissan_navara-np300/hardtop_rsi-steel-smart-canopy.asp @josharb87 has a very similar one which is in the same price bracket. Both are South African built
  7. This was just recently discussed actually. The protipper is now available in a different guise. Not overly cheap but probably the simplest solution http://powertipper.co.uk/
  8. Climbed tons of dead elms. Everythings already been covered really. Watch out for the roots, and note that its a bugger to spike in. I had my only ever fall when spiking on a biggish dead elm. Nothing major, just gaffed our and slid about 6ft down the trunk scuffing up my chest.
  9. Anyone here cover this area for tree surveys?
  10. Is a listing in the tip site directory if any use to you? Actually I’m thinking you might already have one
  11. I had the same problem a few years ago trying to source the same! It’s harder than you’d think
  12. This is the answer to all your problems James, trust me https://www.outwearltd.co.uk/our-brands/woolpower/socks
  13. Doesn't sound legit to me but not entirely sure
  14. I'd put the ratio somewhere in the region of 10/1 ?
  15. Somewhere. That wasn't a scam though, that was something different. This is an out right scam with a third part company signing people up on the promise of making them millionaires overnight. Its all quite convincingly done, but as always if it appears too good to be true then it usually is.
  16. This scam has been doing the round for several months now. I'm sure most of you have seen it. The original one started with a link to the dragons den and was pretty damm convincing, almost to the point that I was considering signing up. I did however start doing a bit of googling and quickly found out it was a scam. I wonder how many thousands of people and fallen for this though? What is annoying me the most is I am constantly seeing these same adverts under a different guise popping up on facebook and yahoo....right in the approved adverts that facebook and Yahoo allow. Now, when I advertise on facebook the ads never go live, instead they have to be approved. You'd think this means manually, but I guess not based on the amount of these scam adverts that seem to make it through their 'moderation. So just be careful what you're clicking on. You would assume that ads that pop up within your email log in page are legit....don't!!
  17. Looo up tree life. Quite a full ok course though
  18. Short of a heli I can't see theres any option other than no.1
  19. we could jump him in? see if he makes it
  20. I converted to Aspen slowly over time, only using it in brand new saws so i never had any issues with regards using it in older saws. I never had any carb issues with any of my saws after switching, whilst prior to that I was plagued with them
