I don't get why she topped herself unless this was the straw that broke the camels back, I'd doubt she'd go to jail for common assault unless she's got previous form. Total waste of a young life.

Every death is a loss to someone, especially when it happens at 40 years of age. Your job doesn't make your life worth any more or less than anyone else's.

Owners of wood burners and open fires will be discouraged from...

George Eustice.... I’ll just make the obvious link.

Cant get too excited (atm) about this.

BSL has required moisture % at a set level for years. Potential to regularise garage forecourt net sales....meh.

It’s just ‘another’ well intentioned but poorly considered central government attempt to impose unenforceable constraints upon processes they don’t really understand.

How exactly is kiln drying Firewood environmentally sustainable? It’s not but they’ll probably come up with an incentive scheme which, as per normal, will be exploited.

Just had a look at Woodsure certification.  That'll be £500 for registration (plus travelling costs for site visit) and then £385/year for annual audit.

So with BSL, ENPlus, BSENISO 17225 part 2 and now Woodsure how many different 'industry certifications' can 1 product actually attract?  Each with a corresponding financial penalty attached of course.

And then there's the CONFOR consultation response which is available to read (via a few click throughs) here:

Did she really accuse DEFRA of being "...forestry phobic..." in section 38?  That's going to be a great help I'm sure....

Think I'll just ignore it all and crack on as normal with sustainably sourced, well stacked and air dried firewood.
