I should probably keep this to myself, but what the heck. I can beat you all hands down. I once left a chipper on site

 

Unknown to me, one of the lads had unhitched the chipper, can't even remember why. Packed up tools and drove back to the yard(about 3 miles away), boss was standing there and asked where the chipper was. Think I broke every speed limit on the way back to the site and fortunately it was sitting right where I left it

 

This was many many years ago, and could have ended a whole lot worse.

 

 

I've arrived on site to find that nobody put the chipper chute on.

Nearly left my dog after getting distracted by someone's digger.

 

Fortunately I stopped to open a gate about a mile up the track and couldt find the key and the dog caught up.

Snap, only made it 1/2 way back to the yard though.

 

One thing I have noticed is that clients rarely call to let you know if rakes, brooms etc get left behind, I guess they think of it as a bit of a bonus. More valuable items they tend to be a bit more honest about and leave a dumpy bag of rakings and you barely make it off the drive.

 

 

Got a call to tell me id left a chainsaw spanner behind once. Needless to say I let them keep it!

it was my saw & you said you had put all the kit away so no need for me to check was there

 

Haha i wasnt on that job. I was on a job a week or two after when we deove near by and you told me lol

 

Lads have recently left jumpers, helmets ad brushes , shovel and bin on various different sites

Let's face it, if you've been doing this for any length of time you will have left something on site.

Fatigue, darkness, drinking with customer, loads of factors.

Stefan's advice about always doing a methodical sweep of the site, from back to front, is worth taking.

Unusually I was lone working, when I nearly brained myself with a log sappie, all I could do was stagger to the truck and hold the kitchen roll I keep in there to my eye socket to stem the bleeding with one hand,and drive with the other hand back to civilisation. After what would now be described as chilling out for an hour or so, I began to think clearly again and realised my 460 was where I'd left it. Mrs oldwoodcutter drove me back and it was still there, and I still have it to this day.

Left a set of ladders roadside on a site clearance once just behind the low roadside wall but in full view of the road, lucky this was on a Friday and Saturday morning I had gone down to fetch some of the timber the boss had told us to leave for the timber fairies as I thought it was to good to leave, so hid the ladders out of sight for Monday morning, didn't fancy turning up at the yard with them and explaining why I had just been passing and ended up with a trailer full of timber 😊
