Correct @peds it is not a yew😊
Monterey cypress/Macrocarpa.

 

Reminds me of a call I got from a client asking me to look at a yew in his garden “one of the tallest and oldest in West Sussex” he proudly proclaimed.

He was a bit crestfallen when I saw it and told him was a circa 60 year old Macrocarpa. 
 

According to google it’s only a 100 years old.

I cannot warm to these trees, never pretty, always a bastard to work on, smell bad, always lots of smashed up rubbish in the crown.
