Snarling badger ....... I think it is illegal for a company to make an employee pay for damage caused as described......... if YOU have an accident the company claims on THEIR insurance , but YOUR name will be on the accident report form , when YOU apply for your own personal vehicle insurance you will be asked " have you had any accidents ,claims or convictions in the last year ? " You should declare it , IF not and you have to claim yourself at a later date you could be guilty of false declaration and payout and insurance refused !!

Are sure of this as I'm sure he didn't tell his own insurance as he spoke to a solicitor who said it doesn't need to be mentioned as it was under another companies insurance.

How the hell does someone take out money from an employee for damaged equipment?...

Its people like that that give good employers a bad rep.... scumbags...

that was nothing compared to some of the stunts he pulled, he was a proper c**t, four years working for him left me with a bit of a chip on my shoulder when it comes to employers. Anyway enough of that, back to the original point, I started out doing gardening legally, insured and paying taxes and just couldn't compete with all the handymen doing it on the QT while claiming DLA. I make a lot more money now doing landscaping and tree work. Plus although there are still plenty of handymen moonlighting as tree surgeons, more people would rather pay the extra for a professional than have a cowboy drop a tree on their house.

Maybe you should get a job then ?

Steady on mate. I hear the same from a lot of business owners. They work 14 hour days, seven day weeks, and earn less than the lowest brash dragger for their troubles.

Why? To provide jumped up climbers like me with a secure job, regardless of their own personal sacrifice.

Instead of your cynicism maybe you could recognise business owners for the charitable martyrs they are?
