Pump fail on the Landy cherry picker. lent the picker to a mate who is well versed on its use, he left it with an oppo who was not and he pulled the winch divert lever while it was running, this caused a dead circuit which split the pump in two.

6 port divert valve ( no pressure relief on this type)

That'll teach you to put a diverter in front of a main relief valve, done the same myself when I depended on the relief valve in the spool block but I think I just burst a hose.

Having machines is like having animals.

I remember many, many years ago I very reluctantly informed my farmer friend and neighbour that one of his cows was dead in the field, he took the news very well, I expressed my sorrow for his loss, his comment has stayed with me ever since, " not to worry Dave, when you have live stock, you will also have dead stock, that just life".

I guess at least with our machines we can resurrect them if funds allow!!!:thumbup1:

I cant moan about the cherry picker, it was built from scratch over ten years ago by our apprentice fitter who was 17 at the time as a project. Other than normal services and a re pipe for a loler its had absolutely nothing done to it. I suppose the pump is nothing compared to the damage done to my mates customers lawn thats just had 30+ gallons of Rye oils finest 32 hydraulic dumped on it.:)
