em I guess you also didn't read my sales are up this year on last seems to be common thread in this to only read 50% of what I say. did I contact hmrc ofc not I went to my bed. would people care if I shopped anyone locally no is the answer I guess we move in different circles. as it seems I'm not allowed to challenge any of the statements made to me only answer them I guess this topic is exhausted.

I did read it

my sales 2012 were down about 30-40% 2013 down about 60% this season looking marginally better than last.

Maybe I was wrong, and 'shop your neighbour' is the way to grow your business after all. :thumbup1:

My log sales are well down from previous years , but I don't put it down to anyone else undercutting me etc, ,I put it down to the fact that its yet again a mild winter and heating oil is cheap.

20 years ago a local woodsman told me logs were a hard way to make a living and at that time there were only about 3 of us doing it locally, firewood job is cyclical, its simple supply and demand if people want it and its cold they will buy it if its warm they won't its sweet fa to do with gas or coal prices, the main problem I would say is the bad rep firewood has got due to the amount of cheap wet unseasoned wood that gets supplied by less reputable suppliers which has tarred all firewood with the same brush, this year same as last prkblem is its mild, I've only been burning my woodburner for a couple of houra late evening except during the colder spells, whereas year before last it was lit all night every night from the first of september through til april.

I had a call yesterday ..hello do you any seasoned hardwood I have just had a load delivered and it was sold to me as seasoned at 25% mc and it's wet through I can't burn it....I said yes we have some air dried outside at 26% mc or some in the poly tunnel at less than 20% it's 95 a cube...gentleman response...well I'm not paying 95 a cube ill stick with the stuff I've got.

I don't think people have any spare money we are still in recession and monies tight.

so in otherwords things wont improve until government regulates the business, as demonstrated by the responses here self regulation won't happen so it will have to be imposed.
