The Fifty and Above Club....if you're any younger don't even think about posting.

I’m going to be 50 later this year, and I have been used to being quite slim, fit and healthy for most of my working life. But, I’ve had a few injuries and weaknesses in the last handful of years - including damage to my shoulders and back. I had no idea these could wear out so quickly already. Now I am putting on weight.

I’m not a fella feller, so I’m wondering if maybe the female body wears out completely differently. I’m hoping that after I weaken a bit, that I will recover (after “the change” perhaps 😊) and then my body might catch up with the strength and fitness of men’s bodies, or other females’ bodies of a similar age?

I’d really, really like to be fit at fifty - and be posting here in a few months - claiming just that.

(Top tips welcome - Thank you).

Running fr me but its starting to hurt and takes a day between to recover.  Im of the opinion if I stop i'll never start again. Brought a Garmin Fenix watch, tells u ur steps, VO2 Max etc...certainly a motivator.  Also as Khriss says, its all pointless if u dont watch the calories👍

She got one, fvvking never shuts up about it, had to walk around market once, one more time to keep steps count up. Going in firebox tomorrow ☺️  K

How accurate is your watch Commando?

Have a couple of friends with these type of watch and they say things that seem a bit strange.

An overweight office worker that's sweating and panting after walking up a small hill told me quite seriously his heart rate was only 46, made me a touch cynical of the technology!

Ive found it to be pretty accurate , i've tested it against HRMs and it shows same rate.  Much better than Polar watch i had before.  I think the tech has moved on significantly and Garmin get a good review generally.

It’s better than the alternative!

So what? You’re 50, I’m 58 our lives started and will finish earlier than people younger than us, just as ours were later than people born before us.

We get four score years and ten on this spinning rock in the middle of an infinite vacuum, no point worrying that your allocation is earlier than others.

Happy birthday by the way!
