I just bought three bottles of different yummy Vodka at the airport.

However, I haven't opened them yet so does that count?

I had never drank in the house until 2 years ago, I'd have a couple of crabbies a week.

I don't like beer or lager, or spirits, crabbies is nice.

I'll have 1 to stop me going back out to work.

I can go a month without a drink and most I'd ever drink in a week if I was being wild would be about 3-4,

If we go to friends I'll get a cheap sparkling champagne for a fiver and put sorbet in it.

Proper butch I am!!

My wife and I have a bottle of red wine at the weekend and 3 nights a week we have a bottle of Hobgoblin each while we watch telly. I buy a bottle of whisky and it lasts a month or two as I am partial to it but I don't think I overdo it any more. I used to go out and have five or six pints but I grew out of it and after bladder cancer and a couple of operations I would have my own path to the bog at the end of the evening.

Someone close to me lost every thing to drink. She had a good business, money was no object and now has nothing not even a family for years I did as much as I could to get her help that she just didnt want.I will now not put my wife or children through anymore of the trouble she has created it's not just the person drinking that it affects. This is however to extreme and as with everything drinking is ok in moderation.

I try not to drink in the week and if I do its minimal . The weekends however kinda get messy sometimes . Mates popping round etc ? Especially in this weather . They always say what not got the bbq on ? I was looking forward to a beer . Always at my expense  . Mind you I did once go through a bad patch when work got to much for me . I was doing a 12 / 14 hr day most days which included Quotes , Invoices , Risk A , Method Statements Paperwork paperwork and more paperwork . All before and after a day on the tools . Thankfully a good friend had a strong word . This made me realise the extent of how much drink ( Spirits ) I was getting through 1/2 a bottle of Vodka most nights . This was a massive wake up call . My good lady had being telling me about it for a while . Just hit home when a real close friend put it to me straight in laymans terms .

Drinking has been a massive part of my life since I was about 16.

I've got a handle on it now, but I'm always aware I need to control it, which I didn't in the past.

I've got a little girl now, and that helped, but if I get the chance, camping at a show, for instance, I don't see the harm in getting bang on it now and then.

I can have a few cans or a bottle of wine now at home, then switch to tea, rather than end up clearing the cupboards out like I used to.

Sherry, jokey Christmas gift ales, crystallised port, been there done that.

Don't get Christmas cards from the pub anymore, but that part of my life is over.

You actually enjoy a good session with mates a lot more if you do it less often. God knows what we used to talk about when we had 3 a week.

Lost one of my best mates to drink at 27. RIP Warwick lad.

There is a certain 'culture' in the UK that as soon as you are old enough you just go out and get hammered. It is the done thing. Is it the pub culture or what? I have travelled round a lot of europe and other countries don't seem to have a 'It's a big man thing to drink to excess'.

I must admit I was bad in my college days, but one day I just got bored with acting like a biggus dickus (only when merry- honest). I can see the fun but it just doesn't do it for me.

An ex neighbour of mine had a successful business, a big house, flash cars, bikes etc.

He now lives in a rented dive, his son has disowned him and he gave up his plumbing business cos he couldn't get up in the mornings. I wonder just how far he is going to slide.

Everything in moderation, even moderation.
