New timberwolf 150

I've never had a problem with output on my 150, we have been running it flat out this week in 30 degree heat and it's never missed a beat. As for the bearings if you keep the blades sharp the bearings are fine. Most Timberwolfs that fail are not maintained correctly.

I don't really agree , having used a schliesing 200mx ( classed as a 5.5 inch machine ) I would say that the throughput of a 150 is pretty lacking especially the amount of shedding that needs to be done to get any decent amount through it , the bearing are poor no matter how you look at it - who in their right mind puts bearings into a chipper that can not be greased ? And rotor bearings at that !!! I had a 190 that had its bearings go at 670(ish) hours even though it was never run on dull blades , it was used to capacity every day and according to my timberwolf dealer that was the reason why !!!

Think what you want, I love my 150, it does what I need it to do. I have had it from new and it's done 1000 hours in 6 years, 1 set of bearings. I change the blades as soon as the loose there edge. I speak as I find.

That's a fair call Hodge , we all have preferences and different kit meets with different peoples requirements

Agreed, I can't knock something that had been so good to me, we had it running flat out this week in this heat chipping 6" and it was great. I'm sure TW will have put greaseable bearings in.....won't they?

The tw150 gets a slating (from me as much as anyone else) but well maintained examples are good machines for relatively light duty work in all fairness. They have certainly earned a lot of companies a lot of money over the years, and held their value well. It is a very old design now with known weak points but has remained a bit of a benchmark until recently. When the design was new it was excellent to be fair. IMO TW have been a bit slow in responding to criticism of late and their competitors have overtaken them a while back. I would imagine they are now seeing a slump in sales and have subsequently responded. Their comeback needs to be good - if it is simply the addition of greaseable bearings then I feel they may have let themselves down.

From what I've heard, the new 150 has been designed with maintenance in mind, more grease points, which have been located close together so you don't miss one out. But it's hear-say, so it may not be true! I hope it is though, the 150 is a bugger to work on!
