Day rate for good Climber?

We pay an employed climber £120 a day and we provided all equipment so I would expect to pay at least £150 a day for a sub-contractor if they provided a topper and climbing kit and all their own PPE

That about sums it up Adam.. You were paying me 150 a day 8 years ago, I would not do subby work for less now ... No way.

Can't find that sort work anymore and climbers still £150- 180 day here.

i pay between 150 to 200 a day for subby's who supplies a topper and climbing kit most of the time we start around half 7 and finished by 1 all i ask is get the tree on the deck and your done and can go home

Are you looking for any more subbies?:D

I've been subbying since Jan this year and so far so good, I've only had two days off and that was through choice. I love the freedom it gives you and also as previously mentioned, the chance to work with different people to keep it fresh.

As for pay, it all depends on distance really. I charge between £130 and £150 per day, all my own climbing kit, and 4 saws.

It does amaze me though, how some people understand the need to charge £Xxx and are happy to pay it and some people cough and splutter etc.

Looks like a bit of variety in rates, mostly to be expected I guess due to regional differences, as well as experience and amount of included kit etc.

One thing I'd be really interested to know from the subbies that have given day rates here, how much (if at all) have you put up your rates in the last say 5 years?
