  3. Didn't they give you a years warranty when you bought the machine? I bought a 2013 machine off them and had a years warranty.

    Ibc cages

There's a guy in Bristol that sells them. He can deliver if that's too far to collect. Don't know if that's any use. His name is Philip. 07907 533832
  5. We have a large job in wyre piddle coming up. There'll be a lot of chip and a fair amount of willow timber if you're interested.
  6. Hi Phil. Was it timber or chip you're after?
  7. Cheers fellas. Will look at ordering some and see how they compare to the bags
  8. I'm storing logs in vented bags at the moment but I'm thinking of trying out ibc cages instead. There's quite a few dotted around the farm already and as I'm not buying bags in big quantities the price isn't massively different between the two ( roughly double I guess) but I figure they'll last a lot longer than the bags. I was just wondering how people get the logs out of the cages without smashing them up. There's a good size merlo at the yard which I have access to. Easy with the bags as they have tipping loops, do you do the same with the cages?
  9. Here's one from a while back. Bit of a horror. Perfectly healthy lime that a customer wanted tonking because he was worried about it falling on the house.....🙄
  10. Had the new Thor magik out on site yesterday. First impressions are very good! Had some horrible knotty plum wood that had been undercover for about 8 months, a load of old hornbeam that had been hanging around for 6 months and a large pear tree to split that we felled on Friday. It coped really well with everything, nothing it wouldn't split and I was impressed with its speed. Table is a good height but the foot pedal seemed quite slow, will have to have a look at that next week. One thing I was worried about was it's weight and how portable it would be. It is a bit of a lump and it definitely needed two to get it onto the plant trailer, I wouldn't fancy trying to wheel it onto the tipping trailer which is why I'm definitely getting a little boat winch to help matters.
  11. I ordered the table with the foot pedal but didn't bother with the four way head. I figured most of my stuff is notty or big rings so didn't really need it. Will see how it goes though. Looking forward to getting my hands on it.
  12. Ordered a petrol Thor magic last week. Get it thurs/fri. Will let you know how I get on.
  13. Cheers for the reply. How do you find the weight of it for moving it about? Do you think two people could wheel onto a tipping trailer?
  14. I was a medium in hi flex and I'm a small in pfanners. Good comfy trousers.
  15. Got some prices on the two splitters today. I'm in quite a good area really, spectrum (balfor dealer) are an hour away joe turner (Thor) are about 20 mins away and fuelwood are an hour away. Kinda swaying towards the Thor, based solely on the YouTube vids and people's recommendations. Only thing I worry about is the portability of the bigger machines e.g. magik and balfor pro k. Both over 250kg I think.
  16. Brilliant bit of kit. Had mine for about 5/6years ish. I've gone through trapeze's like they're going out of fashion though. D shackle attached to throw line now. Beats paying £35 each time. Mate of mine had a pulley saver and another couple have made their own, the rope guide retrieves better because of that metal eye. Just make sure you have a fairly straight rope path when retrieving. Also, be aware of tight forks in limes, hornbeam etc.
  17. Yeah looks good. It says it's got a fixed height table in one bit and an adjustable in another though 🤔
  18. Yeah I phoned fuelwood I think they said around 4K for that towable one. I was going to go down the towable route but I figure a smaller one could potentially get more places, e.g. People's back gardens etc if needed.
  19. I looked at the oxdale but I didn't think it seemed as meaty as the others. The knife also seemed quite small, what is the cycle time like? Price is way better though!
  20. I've had a little look at old posts about the above splitters. I was just wondering if anyone had any more thoughts or experiences on the brands? I'm after a petrol log splitter that is able to be moved around the yard and put on a trailer. I was looking at the balfor a12 vario and Thor mignon 11ton. But then I saw the Thor magik 13 ton and balfor pro (I think) 13ton models and they look pretty meaty and capable. It'll be splitting Arb waste of varying size and species. Any other recommendations? Cheers.
  21. Varying sizes. Have a whole dead pear tree to split for a customer, a load of horrible seasoned hornbeam for another and some seasoned plum for another. Plus a load of stuff at the yard that I can't get the axe through.
  22. Has anyone got a towable splitter for hire in the above areas? Or know of someone who does.
  23. Great, thanks nick, will factor it in to the price.👍
  24. Does anyone know of a tip site near borehamwood? I've been asked to quote a job there and it's a long way from home. Judging by photos 🙄 I'd say 1 load of conifer chip and a load of timber. I can take timber if necessary if I can get rid of the chip.
