I have been a member on AT for around 5 years and in that time have spent a lot of time on here, in that time i have learnt some interesting things and have made some good contacts that i still do jobs for. But recently it just seems to be going around in circles, what saw should i buy, what truck should i get, how much are you selling wood for etc etc etc. I have been in the industry for over 20 years and have had experience in most aspects from commercial forestry to turf laying, I am not saying that i am an expert but i do know my way around a chainsaw and tractor. It seems there are a lot of young guys on here that hang on the words of the "senior members". I didn't know until recently, that all you need to do to become a senior member is post a certain amount of post, so i could come on here and post lots of posts about rubbish then become a senior member, then some college lad comes on here ask a question then this "senior member" answers his question and the lad would think it was gospel.

I mentioned earlier that i have had some work from the site but i have also had some complete wastes of time and money and that was from a "senior member".

Anyway enough of my rantings as the mods will probably take this down before it gets put up.

Stay safe and don't take everything you read on here as gospel:thumbup:

Well why not share your 20 years experiance with others on here if you feel that way! Its give and take:001_rolleyes:

Bye.

It's easy to see who knows what and in what area. And if you don't then it's also just as easy to ask.

IMO most of the members are knowledgable and if something is wrong then it soon gets put right.

The machinery part has some extremely good people there and they know there stuff, and I have always seen that the help given is always right and ideas are always put forward for fixes.

Anyway, bye again. I'm sure you will be back at some point.

Hi,

I was a bit surprised when the term 'Senior member' appeared so perhaps you have a point. "almost an old fart" would be closer, Im 55 and have used a saw on & off since I was 12 but theres always something new to learn from young guns & old hands.

But due to the diversity of the people here, you're going to get a wide range of opinions. Also trucks are important, if you want to get to your job with all your kit?

However, I bet you'll miss the engineering skill of Spud, WYK to name a few & the humour from Jon, Felix & many others who have even made my O/H laugh.

All the best & good luck

N
