Went to many gigs in my teens/20's but the all got eclipsed by ACDC a couple of years ago on the Black Ice Tour.

The other memorable one was Extreme at a Monsters Of Rock because the crowd was so hostile to them, you couldn't watch the stage as you had to watch your head for flying bottles! I think that Aerosmith may of headlined that year.

Went to that punk thing in Hyde park were the sex pistols played in there original line up... Had been raving the up all night before and working all week ,was knackered !! so mid afternoon I went back to the car for a nap thinking I could get back in ... Could not get back in but I spotted a crowd of Mohawks who are smashing the fence down to anarchy in the UK to get in ,so ran over ..it was probably the best sound track you could ever have riding a rocking fence and running from security guards straight in the middle of the gig , and found every one exactly were I left hours earlier !

I'm going to show my age here but the best times were Dr Feelgood, The Pirates and exceptionally the genius that is Peter Gabriel.

Crap bands live were the incredibly well named DIRE Straits and The Tourists/Eurythmics.

Now how long ago was all that...?

Saw Genesis back in 87 at Hampden Park. Absolutely brilliant. Clapton 3 times in Glasgow as well. Won tickets for me and a mate to see BB King in Glasgow and got to meet him after at the party afterwards, that was special. Deacon Blue are really good live as well, at least 4 times. Simple Minds at Ibrox at an all day gig with 5 other bands. The pitch actually sank at least an inch they reckon because so many people were there standing and jumping up and down! One of the best bands live are The Silencers, must have seen them about 4 or 5 times. Robert Cray is also excellent live. The only one to check off my list of must sees is U2, but I think they are a bit theatrical now and it wouldn't be the same as 20 years ago when I was really into them. Numerous other gigs to many years ago to remember. I have also taken my oldest daughter and her pal to gigs before but I prefer to catch up on my sleep in the car or listening to the footy on the radio instead of going in!

Will,

Shame you couldn't get to Download it really is a brilliant festival and the line ups are usually brill. It's almost on my doorstep so i have been to a few

Memorable moments from recent Downloads

Billy Talent (they were so good I saw them again in Rock City shortly afterwards...one of the best live acts i have seen)

AC DC

Black Sabbath

Metallica

Tenacious D

Iron Maiden

Pendulum

Korn

Biffy Clyro

I saw BMTH at Download a few years ago when they were a support band (on the second stage I think.) Download attracts a lot of up and coming bands.
