    Had the same problem with a 15 plate , cause was water ingress into a multi plug up the passenger side of the gearbox , good clean and it’s been fine since .

    I paint mine with stuff called Rust Bullet ( Black Shell ), best I’ve ever used by far . Then a heavy coat of waxoyl on top and inside . My Land Cruiser lasted 20 years and still looked mint when I sold it .

    Some beech I’ve been meaning to do for a while , has to be raining needless to say.

    I had the first Harkie smock , it was really warm and clammy for heavy work , was pretty rain proof though . Got the Sip jacket a couple of years ago and much prefer it . Have never tried the newer Harkie it may be better .
