What do you do for a living? Why do you use Arbtalk?

Im a jack of all trades master of non. I use arbtalk to get work and buy cheap machinery but generally think its full of idiots :-)

Why do you use Arbtalk?

 

I think it started while researching the firewood business, I was paying 1000's out a yr for firewood which I needed to bring down, ended up processing my own, arbtalk to the rescue researching tools/kit etc. I also have an 8 acre site where I planted a small forest garden, and I'm doing a lot of tree planting, so arbtalk to the rescue for tree research. Needed some mulch for the new plantings, so offered a free tip site for chip n logs, arbtalk to the rescue....Then I needed some trees addressing, so I needed a climber.. arbtalk to the rescue again

 

I might well have achieved what I set out to do without arbtalk, but there would have been a lot more heartache involved

Furniture maker, firewood business, also maintain the farm hedgerows.

 

Learnt loads on here for all these and loads more from fencing to lawnmowers.

why do i use arbtalk for the firewood and landscape side but learn so much re trees etc and have made some good friends and contacts plus have a no who are hedgelayers or want to lay hedges. very usful site.

I'm not really an Arborist, I'm a climber or saw for hire.

 

I'm much happier killing trees than pruning them, when your felling you know when your finished, with pruning there is alway the chance of the customer coming out and asking for a little more off, usually after we have cleaned up:sneaky2:

I'm just a miserable old unsociable fart who got invited in 07 and haven't left since, I post now and again. I make stuff, kill stuff. So now nothing much has changed I still make stuff, not so miserable and unsociable and made a great bunch of friends.

I repair tools. Fix anything with an engine.

Drive 360 excavators.

Drive tractors.

Basically anything with an engine I can use it.

 

Oh I do ground for a firm now and again.

Am semi retired IT systems analyst & network engineer,

 

We heat our house with wood, currently doing some restoration work but intend to plant some trees for firewood the Autumn as we have an acre and a half of land.

 

Theres a good bunch of people on the forum which is well managed & contains a wealth of information.

 

Post now and again with opinions on IT related stuff & have helped a few people out, also useful to keep up with arb/country events in UK.

Mainly building work also keep some sheep, couple of cows, bit of shearing/ gathering and silage work in summer. Arbtalk interest comes from the need to keep the stove going!

Had plenty good advice on here and got my second saw here.
