Unemployed? It seems you're not alone!

lots of people desperately trying to get a job out there...or hanging on to a job that just doesn't pay the bills and looking for something else. We have 4 million people into the UK to settle in the last 10 years...and guess what...there's a shortage of jobs. To compound this, there is a 'benefits culture' of people who are happy to sit back and let other people work for them. In the effort to stop these people abusing the welfare system...we are stopping genuine people from receiving the help they need....what a sorry old mess!

Can't really blame the immigrants coming over here to work, they just want a better life (to survive) its human nature.

If they are working for a minimum wage then you can't blame them for taking our jobs- the fact is they are damn hard workers, the problem is if there are unscrupulous bosses out there who get away with paying them lower then minimum wage, who can compete with that.

Shane, what the business start up people don't tell you when you go to start your own business is that if you give up being self employed and go to sign on, you won't get contributions based jsa as the national insurance you pay is the 'wrong' sort. I was only claiming for jsa to merely tide me over between jobs so I can pay bills etc. I don't intend sponging off the state for a prolonged period as I just want to work.

No criticism intended - people who are trying and have a history of work behind them are fine. I do sympathise with the youngsters to some extent (in fact a while back we housed someone for free for over a year till he found a job so I'm not a complete barsteward.

Good luck :001_smile:.

Sorry if sounded like I was having a go at you in the later part of my post. Just had a signing on session at the job centre which has driven me to the edge of my nerves. However, I do intend on trying to get my cscs card out of them.

There are many families where several generations have never worked so have never paid any National Insurance. Whose money are they getting? :001_smile:
