If the AA had any real reason for being then it should be at the forefront of promoting not just its little club but every NPTC qualified tree surgeon in the UK or maybe we should all club together put some funds up for advertising etc and create a true industry representitive that looks after all tree surgeons that are qualified ????? ..

What a sad little comment, if i wanted it my company ticks all the boxes if thats what you mean.

 

My point has been made the aa does not represent the trade, and huck i agree my point was that the arb approved guys seam to think they offer a better service, they don't and the point with certificates is they comply with HSE which does mean a better service should someone cock up a dismantle without the ticket the fact is the HSE will prosecute and your insurance has every reason not to pay out for any damages which leaves the customer liable so yes that is providing a better service not just quality of workmanship which was not my point.

 

I agree fully that there are unqualified guys that are at the top of the skill set, the point again was that if either company had an accident i would offer my customers more protection than the aaac company without the relevant ticket which imo is offering a better service in terms of protection for the client.

 

Most qualified tree surgeons who are sbo always do the best work as their livelihood relies upon this so quality is rarely an issue and customers ideas on quality are not the same as a tree surgeons.

 

Any way enjoy sunday i hope this post at least offers a useful bit of info and maybe one day the aa will be more proactive in promoting the trade not just the paying few, it would be nice to have a representative that actively advertises not just aa approved but all qualified operators, regarding good working practices the aa do not guarantee there members quality so its a mute point. Quality is the choice of the customer and the contractor and no one agrees

for me as much as the other benefits the AA are a method of advertising. it costs no more than advertising in a local rag for a year and is cheaper than checkatrade. my details are available to anybody who looks on the councils website, wether they live in my area or further away. it brings in plenty of work and has improved my company

In regards of the refresher, no matter who u are, it shouldn't take any more than 2hours to do it all. Why? You know what your doing for a start, you are safe and competent for a second, and for a third, your not being retrained. All they doing is assessing your ability to swing ur saw and fell your trees. You all do remember how to do your job safely yeah?

 

I started on blue book too btw, and the only changes I've noticed is the intense increase in payable funds to get the tickets now.

And with modern technology, first hit on the internet wins

Try reading my post correctly. There is a link to the aa approved contractors on most council websites or certainly on the ones local to me there is. That is the best advertising for me, my name and not many others direct to the people who a concerned about there trees and want a proper job

I agree on google being useful but not the 'be all and end all'. A company i'm subbing to at the moment was a one team outfit a year and a half ago, then got ArbAC and now are completely run off their feet with 3 teams of 3 out. Alot of council and commercial work has flooded in. Can't just be a coincidence?

I simply don't believe this is true.

 

If your driven into by a drink driver or someone running a red light will there insurance pay out?? of course it will, their own loses may not be covered, but a third parties will be.
