How to crash an industry

A quote from the proposal for the NPTC revision documents;

 

"NPTC Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw and Related Operations

 

Consultation on proposed changes February 2009

 

All of the chainsaw units have been reviewed by a select group of chainsaw operators.

 

This group was comprised of employers/contractors, trainers and assessors from

 

arboricultural and forestry backgrounds.

 

As with earlier revisions, Chainsaw units previously achieved will continue to be valid

 

after the revised Chainsaw Certificate of Competence units are released, provided

 

regular refresher training has been undertaken."

 

 

 

 

So on the day this new legislation is implimented (as no one will have undertaken refresher training) NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON within our industry will have a current NPTC ticket. Therefore EL insurance will be void ( which is a legal requirement to trade) as proof of competance is required, meaning the entire industry will have to either work illegally or stop trading that instant.

so what there saying we must do a refresher course or lose are nptc ? or have i miss understud & how regular are the refreshers ?

This is the NPTC taking the piss.

 

but to let you know my insurance was gained before i had tickets once i got my tickets they said you dont get a cheaper premium you was accepted without them and the price dont change.

 

So i wasted a shed load of money for what.

 

So i dont know what you make of that but you can get insured without nptc tickets therfore work legally.

 

I think the nptc might wake up or face loosing a hell of alot of potential candidates.

 

Oh yeah and i have to refresh in 5 years to keep my tickets valid. This will be the same for everyone those who have had for years will still have to refresh thats one refresher for cs30-31 £3-400 and one for climbing £???

I don't see how that can stand up in court, under HSE legislation I have to show I have been trained, my NPTC cert shows that.

 

They can kiss my hairy arse if they think I'm paying out again for some thing I already have!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NPTC is proof of competency, if the stit hits the fan and you find yourself in front of a judge, you could proove that you are competent in other ways if necessary. Most judges are much more sensible than you think.

You guys forget... Training and assesment is an industry in itself. Can you imagine how much cash that industry is going to make if these rulings are implemented? I'm off to get my assesors ticket now...
