What has SRT done for you.

Recommended Posts

Now i was just thinking today what SRT has done for me, other than make most jobs quicker and no more tight elbow in the evening. its also helped me to lose a stone! Now i normally get down to this weight before my pole climbing season but well SRT means i now have more free time to well...... um....... do stuff.

Anyone else noticed anything its done for you?

Shown me they way!

No seriously though in 5 months I've put 2" on my chest due to the correct function and use of my upper body,

No wrist problems, no elbow aches, shoulders feel great and above all a little more energy, it is amazing how you aways find a way to use that though!!!!! :001_smile:

Reinvented my climbing style, I look at trees now in a totally different way, reductions are quicker due to redirecting through out the crown, limb walks are minimal due to redirects leaving less risk of a pendulous fall. Tip pruning and thins have become more efficient, takedowns haven't changed much but can see great advantages in pole rescues if the unspoken ever happens.

All in all for me I love my climbing even more now, its opened so many doors for me :thumbup1:

Saved me hours of trying to isolate a decent anchor with the worlds least accurate throwline technique.

Saved me the pain of long body thrusting ascents.

Enabled me to meander round a crown in whichever erratic direction I so choose.

I think it's just GREAT!

I'm even getting on better with limb walking on it now as well.....

Oh, and it gave me a great excuse to splurge on more stuff I don't really need....:blushing::001_tongue:

Also helped with elbow prob's.

I have found a new way of approaching climbs with the variety of options srt adds to my tree climbing tools. i.e re-directs that would not be possible on ddrt due to angle optimization with pre loading & isolating to share the load on one or multiple re-directs.

Physical effort on long assents has been dramatically reduced.

A new way of planing my climbs which has enhanced my enjoyment of climbing as I feel I can use more dimensions of the tree, therefor opining a new canopy to me...

Time also on some operations, but not all. I still swap methods about...Finding more ways to apply srt every time I use it. Still only a novice at it though, but enjoying the learning...

Not a lot really.. Rarely use it I just don't get on work climbing SRT even with a RW.. On a few jobs its been good for access... But even today a well placed throw on a leaning alder on a steep river bank ,I just could not be bothered to put it all together and just got on with it untill I could get around the back of the lean and walk up... Maybe I don't do enough big trees any more, but I just really like climbing DRT on a rope guide and hitch climber vt.

I have found it great fun, I have loved learning how it works and as a result I feel more confident with my climbing in general. I still use DdRT, but I find with having the 2 systems it gives me options. With the RW or indeed the HH, it has just opened up the world of SRT and made it more practical to arbs. The fact with RW or HH you can go up and down to me makes it a more practical system then the traditional SRT systems where you can only go up.

Would recommend it to anyone to at least give it a try.
