Hi there

Always wear a poppy so does the wifes car and all the work vehicles. Never forget those who gave so much for our lifestyles and our freedoms. With me this hit home when i was a young lad in army cadets and then also while i was serving. The men and women serving abroad get my full respect and my thoughts. Wear your poppy with pride and if people dont like it then they know where they can go, a one way ticket off this island!!! I have NO respect for such people but my family and I have all served in the armed forces and what it represents we respect to the the core!

Just my thoughts

Pete..

Yep always stop working at eleven. It's something peacefull about stopping a chipper and all saws for two minutes as the world seems quiet as everyone does the same.

Havnt got my poppy yet, haven't seen them selling them. Will see if I can get one today.

I will get mine as usual. But not in October. Rememberance Day is an important day in the calendar, but I think it's watered down to a certain extent by wearing it for weeks on end. Only my opinion, each should do as they choose, I have a Help for Heroes band on all year round, subtle and meaningful.

Here stateside the local American Legion or some other service organization offers Poppy's for a donation in front of the grocery stores. I wear mine every year, sadly at least in my community I see less and less every year. It is a pity that so few know about this point in time. I am not sure the public school system over here even teaches about

the number 11 and the year 1918. Private schools and military schools do remember and honor all of the injured and fallen.

It's a tough one for me, my farther fought in the 2ww (he had me late in life)

Mine was non com in Burma, had panic attack on his dying day that the "japs were coming"

Lost one uncle over North sea and both of them were from reserved occupations.

Seeing these young lads and lasses in Afgan breaks my heart (a lad i worked with lost his boy out there) he was 21 IIRC.

Me too and they will always have my support and donation. I don't wear a poppy and don't believe we should be occupying a foreign sovereign nation.

I have to say I agree, I am immensely grateful to those who fought to preserve our freedom and liberate our neighbours, but how is what we are doing now in other land that different from the very thing we were fighting against in the two great wars????:confused1:
