Not the best tree for it Mr. Git, by any means, but did the owner think about leaving it as a low pollard, once a straight fell was discounted, to help bank stabilisation at all?

It would probably never have flushed but might have bought a year or two.

Canny root system there.

He didn't want it leaving high as wanted the logs, going to fiddle it out with a compact tractor later in the year apparently and leave the brash for game cover.

Made for a interesting niggle in the back of my mind knowing the undercut was almost back to the main stump.
