I assumed the bucket would be upside down so it self locates and doesn't fall off.

That would indeed be clever, but an inverted bin would have a slight taper going the wrong way, and a pair of handles to stop the chain shrugging onto the stem. I'm sure with slight modification these obstacles could be overcome.

Yeah. That bin does. I was picturing an oil drum.

 

There's nothing stopping anyone tying it on to a chain I suppose.

Most of the time yes.  I even half hitch the chain sometimes to shorten them rather than shortening them at the ring.

Damn near broke my wrist on my first crane job. Nobody mentioned there was a better way so i was trying to swing the chains round like a rope 😂

I took a hammer and some big nails up my first one to aid choking if needed.

I used owl box nails. They’re eco friendly.
