As a family we never really do presents but Brother in law lost his job due to covid and has spent the last few months working away in his shed making things for us all this Xmas. This was my gift. Completely handmade, very original. One of the best gifts I've had in years

Don’t ask me why but I brought myself one if those drones with a camera so it can sent it back to your phone or iPad etc...only £50 I thought it might come in useful for looking and trees canopy for broken limbs or nest or just generally checking what the tree looks like high up without getting your climbing gear on or squinting though binoculars...could be wrong but for £50 I thought give it a go.

They are good. I use them on crowns on a '  calm day ' 😉  K

Make sure you scope out the wind gust speed and the speed of your drone. I know someone (hangs head) who watched one drift off into the sunset.

A friend sent a cheap ish one (£150 three or four years ago) straight up and it kept going. Based on the battery life and the speed, we reckoned it went up literally thousands of feet and down and sideways on the breeze fvck knows where. Conclusion we came to was the that expensive ones would probably come back to you automatically etc. We never considered whether they’d be clever enough to descend to stiller air if it’s too windy up high though.
