My local garden centre has been selling over priced christmas trees for the last few years. 60 quid for a 5-6 footer, 70 quid for a 6-7 footer etc.

Last year I got chatting to the guy wrapping the trees for the customers (as we used to chip their excess in January) he mentioned to wander around the back, all trees are ungraded but are 25 quid each. Basically they do not look like perfect trees from the xmas card but hey ho still good enough for me. Last year a 7 foot Nordman for 25 quid. This year a 6foot+ for 29.99. Fair doo's, I aint gonna knock them for putting the prices up a bit. Still a bargain.

Cheers all - so it's not just me being a grumbly old cheapskate!

I could kick myself really - Mrs bought one of the living potted £15 trees fro Asda last year, and for some reason I gave in when she said she was taking it to the recycling point in the new year! I was working for a customer last week who had a living potted tree she bought several years ago. It lives in a big tub in the garden most of the year and she brings it in for a couple of weeks at Christmas. It's doing great it is. We should have done the same with ours.
