Fair enough. They are however still made by people who do not seemingly have "build quality" first and foremost in their business plan.

Again, i disagree. taking the stein trousers as just one example...having been fortunate enough to wear them during the field test stage, I found Stein to be in communication almost daily getting feedback and updates, not to mention how many different design of trousers they no doubt went through during the early stages at considerable expense......and bearing in mind this was all over a 24 month period, that doesnt say to me that its a company who rushes into delivering products with no thought for quality. I think you have probably just been unlucky with the few things you have had. Even huge name brands like BMW and Mercedes as an example have their friday afternoon products here and there!

Oh yeah, these spikes look great, they feel light and the pads appear sensible. I like the idea of velcro leg straps and leather foot straps. Unfortunately none of this is much good if after a month the rings have worn right through the shanks.

It even states in the info. not to etch them as it reduces strength. Well mine are now well and truly etched with a unique i.d. code.

I have not yet contacted the supplier, hectic day today. I will make a post when I hear what they say.

Ben

i would keep an eye on them ,then keep us posted with new photos as they ware ,you could always get someone qualified/lolar inspector to have a look @ them :001_smile:

Following posting the photos, Ian Stewart of Fletcher Stewart has been in touch with me regarding the issue. He has worked quickly to find a solution to the obvious problem and I am expecting to receive the improved spikes soon.

I will make an update when I have tried them out.

THats good news Treecreeper. I would add that the wear pattern in the photo wouldn't worry me as it will wear to a point and then proceed no further as the ring will only pivot so far.

However, I would be peed orf.

Re: stein quality. I've been battering my bollard all summer and it's still perfect. Also my Stein rain coat is still mint after four months, although it's only rained twice since I got it.

But keep it all perspective guys. It's shiny blue stuff and I love that!

As you would expect it to be,its designed by a Tree Man,made from Steel and Welded together.Reg knows what he's doing.

The Raincoat has been in a Bag presumably for the last 120 days.We get around 100" of rain a year here in Bergen,be interesting to see how one would hold up to those conditions.Probably well if I kept it in a Bag.
