Not intending to derail the thread  at all but I think the post war myth has evolved where most of the French were apparently in the resistance were they not, somewhat like the post covid views by many upon the validity of lockdowns etc.
Brno made arms for the Nazi war machine post occupation if I’m not wrong.

Sure.

Its the same in Norway, the French and the Norwegians both used "captured" arms post WW2 so that Rifle could have been secreted there by anyone for any number of reasons.Although since it retains its bolt I would guess that who ever put it there intended to use it at a later date.

Give the left hand side of the receiver ring and the action a good scrub.Might find some interesting markings. I but the Stock and some ammo are not too far away either.

I quoted at the very beginning it was not intended to derail the thread.

Yet you posted your usual Covid claptrap anyway.
Remind me again, did you or did you not meekly roll up your sleeve and receive your covid jabs?
If the cap fits…

If you want to discuss purely covid matters put it in the vaccine thread rather than selectively quote part of a post here and I’ll happily reply,

If I had a picture I would try an bring the thread back on track with a photo my 303 SMLE. It's newish to me but well over a century old and I often wonder what it got up to in its earlier years. It's also good fun to shoot, if a little expensive these days.

One of the first full bores that I shot with, together with a P14/18. Then went to a No.4 Mk2 till I packed up and went small bore.

If you carefully take off the topwood behind the rear sight and post pictures of the stampings on the barrel and Knox form I might be able to tell you quite a bit.

Emphasis on the carefully.
