I am jealous of these reductions, the skill level is clearly massive.

 

BUT - I don't really see the point, and surely you must snap bits all the time getting out to the tips?

 

Probably because I'm no good at them, I normally persuade people to leave their trees alone rather than lightly reduce. If pushed, I sub Rich Rule in.

heres a small reduction i did back in august of an Acer platanoides, and then now without leaf.

 

And another small reduction on a beech done last weekend

 

Uh oh, you've killed the acer, all it's leaves fell off!
