I’ve just found one of the first £2 coins (I’ve a money bag full of them somewhere amongst stuff I’m sorting through), having just had a look on the web it seems they are worth anywhere between £25 and £110 each depending on condition, is this correct? If so where would I take them to get them valued?

When you say they are worth anywhere between £25 and £110 each, are you looking at something like ebay to come to that conclusion?

If so, ignore the 'buy it now' prices as quite obviously if they are still there, then they havent sold...so not worth what is being asked.

If using the bay to price something I always look at the 'auctions' not the buy it nows. A genuine auction will generally end at its true worth for that moment in time.

Yep ya write, that’s why I asked the question, should have known a two quid coin would be worth less than it was when I collected them. Still, when I get to the bag of them I’d forgotten about I might be a couple of hundred quid better off than I was this morning, every cloud and all that.

When I was a teenager I worked in a trade counter place. Someone paid with a really old £5 note. I'm sure another member of staff said something about not legal tender blah blah.

I put a fiver from my own pocket in the till and took the old note home, sold it on ebay for a tenner!! :vollkommenauf:
