Wouldn't bother me if I lost my saw in that situation, because if I ever did anything that stupid it would be the day I left the industry in shame to find a rock to crawl under to the end of my days.

He looked to be panicking a bit there when it pinched.

I used to see old cutters spend a good while walking round tapping the base of a Lombardy’s with a hammer, with their ear close to the trunk, and with good reason.

Often it was adjudged to be rotten and  I’ve seen the face cut put in up to 10’ off the ground to get into good holding wood, and once on the deck the evidence of rot was there for us to see.

Sounds a bit like it, doesn't it.

 

Yeah stupid to blame the truck driver, when it was obviously the tree's fault.
