Hi guys

Anyone know good places to look for decent secondhand trailers for reasonable prices in the Bristol area?

My uncle wants to get his own so he doesn't have to borrow a dilapidated DIY-built one from a mate any more.

get a photo of the data plate and make sure it's ok and not been tampered with

i also get ifor to check their system to make sure it's not listed as stolen

once you do get one, fill out the change of ownership form on the ifor website, that way you're on their system as the owner of said trailer

i've a mate who brought a second hand trailer from a dealer, and turned out it was stolen!!!

that's if u get an ifor, i would

With the prices some second hand trailers have been going for, they don't seem that good value compared with new. Especially if it ends up needing tyres, brakes etc. And you don't know if it's legit...

Disadvantage with new is there might be a bit of a wait.

Trailer prices will be following digger prices back down shortly.

Here's hoping! And second hand vans too!!

Just over a year ago I was quoted a 6-8 month delivery time for a tipping Ifor; last month it was a case of'what size would you like sir?' - stock levels have significantly recovered post covid etc.

Yes I picked up a few lights etc from an ifor dealer this morning,  there were a fair few in stock. Nowhere near where they were 3 years ago but they were definitely arranged as stock items, not waiting on collection. But the prices now!!

I bought the last 'stock' 2.7 ton 10x5 another local dealer had 2 years ago, paid £2700 for it. Its done a bit of work but not been hammered , I'd want 3k for it at the moment but pointless to sell as a new one would be way more.

Someone 'dealer' on FB was listing a new 750kg unbraked ifor with cage sides for £2400 plus VAT the other day. That can't be retail- surely they are just trying to price gouge?

I've been looking for a second trailer for my alpine and winch. The prices of used ones have become laughable! Well, to the buyer anyway, great time to be selling I suppose. I sincerely hope they start to level off a bit. As mentioned, the price of used has got so silly that buying new is more sensible overall.
