Andrews boots falling apart

Less than 6 months old and the heel has started falling apart. Looks like it's crumbling. Not related to walking as its a few mm above anything that would contact the floor.

 

I got Andrews as Meindl soles fell apart if the wind blew the wrong direction. Can't say this is impressive

I got an advert from Gustharts today for Orion boots which have vibram soles. Only go up to size 11 though.

Urethane foam decay. It's a chemical thing, acellorated by moisture, but ultimately due to time passing. Brand new boots, put away for (10?) years or so, will also fall apart at the midsole like this, it's impossible to stop.

 

Try to find out when your Andrews were manufactured, and hence what age they are. They might have been old new stock.

 

It's the same with car tyres, they're o ly good for six years from date of manufacture, even if they're never used.

Agree. I had a near new set of boots which i used occasionally for jobs around the house maybe a couple of times a year....i even kept them in a proper boot bag. I didnt use them for 18 months or so, then when i got them out to use i started walking in them and i thought it was lumps of mud falling off the underside then realised it was the heels crumbling. Avoid urethane

Ya have heard it happens to other brands too. Expensive oz work boots.

Yeah, my Meindls went like that, thats why I swapped to these. I just think it takes the piss a bit that we're spending a fortune on kit that is failing pretty quick through no user error. I would get it if I was spending the day on concrete and wore the sole away but for it to crumble pretty quick on 250 quid boots after very little use, I think its a bit poor

Three separate pairs of boots, 12 months old, 9 months old, 6 months old. Currently trying to get manufacturers to deal with as they are clearly not fit for purpose. Not good enough really as has been said already. Any more out there
