You are not wrong you can make very good money on through the house jobs and I have but the risks are very high and now too many people are quoting very low, my last through the house cost the company I was sub to a lot complete redecoration of the hallway plus 600 on the insurance premium for the claim and once the premium goes up it never comes down plus the agro of weather he was insured to work inside houses

What happened that the hallway needed redecorated?

Bet its via dragging branches etc, door frames, front if internal doors, maybe wallpapered or painted etc.....

I've done a few through the house removals and they are a ball ache.... I clearly state on quote that the customer is responsible for sheeting up and making sure all is covered to their satisfaction..... and make them realise the volume of material that needs to come through the house.

I've got a vision of the op hitting the gas by mistake and careering down the hallway, bouncing the cutter wheel off either side. He lashes out widlly for the emergency stop, but only succeeds in turning on the wheel. The clients cat shoots out from under the hallway table, right into the wheel as it loads up.🤣

They covered the carpets in plastic sheet then sheets then plywood, sheeted up the walls in plywood the branches rubbing the paint and wall paper of and stained the door frames, the boards on the floor wire away in areas and let moisture onto the carpet

the wallpaper was not available as was the carpet so redecorate and recarpet from memory bill was over £8000.  The insurers were not happy about the claim,10 tonnes of beech through a house, should have been notified

I can see insurance point but typical twats wi going about us just getting on with job.... long as all the bullshit in the method statement and risk ass then surely covered?

They only really ask about hazardous sites and motorways....

Should people inform them whe  they do a crane job? It's like them saying you xan only go round the house.... not over, under or through lol 😆

What second hand small stump grinder to buy with £3000, looking for a reliable half decent grinder that I can get through doorways with. Any suggestions ???

I’ve been renting in a Rayco 1625 and personally find it a great machine. I think there is two currently for sale at £3000 each.

I just bought the 1620 for £1400. I think if I had £3k to play with I’d give the pedestrian grinders a miss.

I won’t do “ through the house” jobs , simply more hassle than its worth , as for a little grinder I find it makes more money than our big machine on domestic stuff due to tight assess down sides of houses and tiny gates.
