New Stihl Hex chain…

Recommended Posts

Just watched the video on YouTube, faster cutting is always a plus.

It will be interesting to see what the cost is and also how the sharpening compares.

I imagine you would have to have a file guide that stops the file from twisting or you would soon have the wrong angle.

Interesting idea, nice to know there's still (possible) improvements to make with chains.

Don’t think so, as it looks like the lower edge has no teeth.
I’m guess img it’ll make sharpening easier.

Looks like a new version of square ground chain, which is 20%plus faster than normal round ground. Really interested

I feel that anyone not using a file guide is missing a trick.

I don't get why more people don't use them

There is a topic about it on OPE forum.  Not sure if I'm allowed to put a link here.  Please delete it if it's against the rules:

Well folks it's finally official! Now we can file out of the box C83/85 XCut style.:D [MEDIA]

I searched for this chain on the Stihl UK and Stihl Germany websites but there is no info there, so it looks like it hasn't been released yet.

Hmm, 10% better cutting performance with a longer shelf life?

HTF does a chain deteoriate, while sitting in the box, on the shelf.

Packed in more protective oil or sommat?
