Funny you say that i had an Oregon chain 3/8 058 92e that had cutters that were like glass, never been sharpened before, i guess its an issue with the hardening process

I've had it a couple of times when I used Oregon. It happens with all brands I think, I just sharpen it at more of an angle for the first few strokes to get through.

I have come across it in stihl chain more recently. My old boss got a new chain,  

. 404 for a big saw and all the teeth on one side of the chain were hard is hell on file would look at it he took at back, turned out the whole roll was like it.

I concour have used most brands but always preferred Oregon always felt better when sharpening and definitely over Stihl chains Hey Ho n all that !!!
