The Wee Chipper Club

This bushy mess of elder and bramble goes all the way along the side of the house. Parked the chipper by it, all fitted in one bin (not the one in the picture)

So I also reckon you get a lot in the bin compared to what you can drag. I'd have to check my bin capacity, bigger than normal home refuse ones though.

I'm also with you, long uphill drag on soft ground is a pain with wheelie bin. I experimented with large wheelbarrow and greedy boards but not really enough volume.

Ton bag on an arb trolley? Not tried that.IMG-20200519-WA0002.jpeg

And when you get it to the truck...?!

I'm sounding too negative here for my own liking:  every situation is slightly different and there's certainly no one-size-fits-all solution or we'd all be doing it.

Dragging chip to the truck instead of brush makes perfect sense (having tried to persuade the client to let you chip on the ground by the tree and leave it there of course!) but getting the chip into the truck has to be a consideration.

You can certainly move more wood chip than brash by hand.

With a skip loader dump even more, Entec which is now timberwolf use to make a cyclone unit instead of spout so chips dropped into bag could work with dumper if it wasn't to high.

We all like an easy life.

I have a 12 foot trailer with ramps to run the chipper out, so I would just run the trolley up the ramps. I don't own an arb trolley though so can't try this out easily.

The problem I do have is 12 foot trailer and Defender can make small driveways a bit of a game, not a tight turning circle.

I used to use a brown wheelie bin exacly as pictured  a few posts up but on bumpy/sloping ground it doesn't work out. Also, dragging the bin up the trailer ramp got pretty old after the 10th trip and you can't close the tailgate! Multiple small loads (like feeding a branch into the chipper chute) is easier on the back then one big heave with a full wheely bin every 10 minutes.

Remember, the chipper is doing some useful work for you lifting those chips from the drum up to the chute exit!
