If it has been sat about a while sure its not just a flat battery? On small petrol engines they don't charge the battery back up like a traditional alternator system. Take the battery off and give it a proper trickle charge.

Have you got a volt meter handy? See what you're charging voltage is whilst running.

Can you explain further? I fitted a digital meter on my eliet, its registering 14volts when running, 18hp Briggs and stratton

Oh and 'Hello' GA Groundcare!

Greenmech told me to see you guys for spares. I need a microswitch for the drive belt cover safety switch. Apparently it's part number C200206.

Can you help?

Yep, I’ll price you this switch in the morning when in the office.

Doesn’t sound like you’ve any issues there at all ?

If you pop volt meter on a alternator charging system it’ll be up on its volts straight away. A small petrol engine using charging coils & regulator will take a while to get there. Best bet can be to pop a  trickle charger on the battery overnight if the machines been sat for a while.

I probably didn’t phrase my earlier reply very well.

The little 90 degree on at the bottom of the fuel tank? Often forgotten and usually gunked up as you’ve found!

Yup - that's the badger.

Tweeked the throttle cable a bit too - it wasn't bringing the revs up until the lever had travelled about a quarter or so of it's movement.

Can it not be bypassed?

It seems a bit superfluous, after all, it is only there to ensure you don't run the machine with the belt cover off.

 Stuart

Well... it already is... looking at selling it later in the year and don't really want any bodges when it comes to that...
