On my recent trip back to Sussex I was struck (as I am on every visit) by how shabby and unkempt the verges and hedges are along the roads in comparison to here in France.

Litter and shit everywhere, trees growing right up the the edge of the road, only the lorries striking them seems to keep them back.

I think more cutting and trimming is needed not less.

iam always surprised by how neat and trimmed all the verges are in france, its up to the individual landowners here, so some cut, some wild some just smashed up with a digger!

Did the A23 feature Mick?  An embarrassment; it really is disgusting but not alone sadly.

As for the idea of all those horrible people throwing stuff out of their car windows I never see it.  What I see is plastic sheet, dumpy bags and the like that could only have come off commercial vehicles.  I hang back from dustcarts and recycling material carriers as they're the worst offenders!

A23 is bad, I came over via Newhaven, so A23 then the 272 to Billingshurst.

Main roads it is off the back of a truck, on the side roads it is dumped out of a parked car window, MuckyDs style. This week seen it where lots of wind blows all the little stuff about - so it looks like loads of domestic waste but that has just been blown from hedgerows on the smaller roads  - around here anyway

(I littler picked my road before this weeks storms, spotless, after the storms and I don't think I should have bothered - all wind blown)

Some good, some bad.

I will give my view on what I think has changed in the nearly 20 years since I left, for the better and the worse, as long as it is taken  in the spirit it’s intended, not as an attack on either country.

Please do share your thoughts. I would be genuinely interested.
