A local man, retired doctor, requested me to put up a post box for him, a week into the lockdown. I rocked up, found the box and started. He came out and stood right next to me. Now, this was during the "Everybody will DIE!" stage of general hysteria. So, I asked him: "You're not worried about the virus then?" He just smiled and said, "Oh, no."

We have two friends who nurses. Neither one social distances around people they know, who are not worried.

There are three kinds of people who social distance:

1. Those who do it out of respect to strangers or people they know who they know or suspect are worried. This type does not social distance with people of the same type, even in public.

2. People who are actually worried, or "cautious".

3 People who are not worried but do it out of obedience to authority and/or percieved social pressure. Type 3 are more dangerous to free societies than the virus.

On the flip side I reckon there are a hell of a lot more doctors and nurses who would slap those down.

Didn't have Dr Shipman Jnr written on the post box did it?

How can anyone be considered to have survived the disease if they have never contracted it?

How can they know how many people have had it if there is no testing in place?
How do they guage this 'R' number?

I think this refers to surviving the pandemic.

Worldometers puts the mortality rate for those actually infected with Covid-19 in New York (one of the the worst affected areas) at 0.28%

My wife has been having symptoms of Covid so I booked a test for her. Tonight we went and when we got there and they decided I needed a test too even though I’ve not got symptoms. Maybe I’m cynical but seems to be testing for the sake of adding another number to the list.....

4. People (like me) who aren’t overly bothered about contracting it themselves, but would prefer not to spread it around, especially to people who are higher risk.

Mate has just come out of ICU after 5 weeks on a ventilator.

The other 2 people in his room (42 and 46) went out the other door.

I’m getting on with my life, but I’m not begging for the pubs to open yet either.
