What ever you do to the poor tree is will look odd at best, SH:thumbdown:T at worst. Pine trees either need to be felled or left alone. Against my better judgement, a customer talked me into reducing a row of scots pine, which after two days carefull pruning they looked odd,and SH:thumbdown:T, and the customer then decided to have them felled, and replant with some smaller growing trees.

It's your call............

IMO they always look cack when reduced - would tell the customer this (perhaps in a way better worded) - although if thats what they want thats what they want.

i'd not enjoy the job but do it to the best of my ability knowing that if i wasnt someone else would be.

I have reduced a few scottys, corsicans ect ,just follow the same rules as normal target pruning dont take limbs back to anything less than a 3rd of what you cut off and 25% would be the max... look for a natural line ,its really not hard but they can be a bit of a pig to get out on!

:cursing:ok, ive looked and looked and cannot be bothered to continue looking through the tree pic gallery for it.

:001_smile:BUT, it looked good:thumbup: hence why i asked the question, i would only reduce a pine by choice by 15% imo. I know some people would 'top it' and think its better for a tree by letting the light in that way. I was just seeing what peoples opinion on the matter was.
