  I have tried lying down like a tool in the middle of shop for 20 seconds to see if a mattres is comfy, it’s the pita pesty salesman that wind me up, I tell them the second I’m in, I’ll give YOU a shout if I need them, they can’t stop themselves with their sales shite so I just walk off.

  Steve I’ll try the ergo flex first.

nepia I do a lot less physical work now.  I don’t think the cold helps in winter.

sounds really kinky but i got a latex sprung mattress a few years ago, it did help with the achey lower back, but i fell off a chair just before christmas and it's all gone to sh*te now...

I used to have o lot of lower back pain but in my case it turned out to be from having fallen arches.

long shift driving mini digger or tractor are often worse than physical work for back pain.

Anyone got some good feedback on a life changing mattress for the sore back, non sleepers amongst us.  I wake up broken after I finally get to sleep.

Hi Stephen I have suffered with on off terrible back pain for years ! I use a Dreams maitland pocket sprung not that expensive but seems good after changing from mega expensive one that was supposed to be good for my back issues it just aggravated it !

I wanted a new mattress for our Norfolk bolt hole and got an Ikea Morgedal. It is a relatively thin memory foam mattress so no good if you and/or the Mrs are a bit rotund but I have my best nights sleep on it, no lower back issues, no pain and I find it very comfortable which is good as other mattresses I have had haven't been a patch on it.

I find our Ergoflex a bit hard although it is better than the sprung one we used to have but find the Ikea one more supporting - this may just be a personal thing as everyone is different.

You can get cheaper ones made by children with not a care for the environment  from China on Amazon. Or pay the premium for an organic cotton one crafted by happy Indians.

Farmer friend of mine swears by a waterbed. He had struggled for years until they got it. You can adjust each side differently.

 For myself just a firm quality mattress but my back is not too bad by comparison. 

 

Hope you find a solution as that sounds a nightmare.
